Connection name: just
enter the name to call the connection, can
be anything.
Host name: localhost
Port: 3306
username: should usually be
root
password: should be the MYSQL
ROOT PASSWORD you just created above.
OK not click on the SSH tab,
you will be creating what is called an SSH
tunnel to access your databases:
Click Use SSH tunnel ON
Hostname: enter the master IP
address of your server
Port: should be 22
username: username of SSH and
the WHM, which is usually root
password: your master SSH
and WHM password
THAT'S IT, you are done, try to test your connection. If it does
not work your ports are not open or your passwords are not correct.
Connecting to just ONE database
or account instead of all of them:
The above shows you how to connect to all databases on a
server. But you may want to just access one account or you may
want to give a user access to his database. This can be done as
well. To do this the user must know the IP address of his
personal computer. He can find it by going to whatismyip.net
1) Login to the individual user's CPANEL account
2) Click on REMOTE MYSQL
3) Enter the IP address of his computer as an ACCESS host
Configure Navicat.
4) Enter any connection name
5) Enter the IP address of the server or the users account
6) Port is 3306 (make sure that port is open in the firewall)
7) Enter the username of the user's specific database, this usual looks
like this: usernam_dbname
8) Enter the password of the specific database
That is it. You do not have to use the SSH settings in this
case. This will gain the user access to all databases that are
linked to that username.
