| SETUP UP CHILD ACCOUNTS AS A RESELLER | |
| Setting
up website accounts for your users in real-time is easy.
The following example assumed you have chosen to use our recommended
control panel (CPANEL/WHM). The reseller control panel (called WHM: partial screenshot) allows you to do this on the fly, instantly creating sites for your users with their own control panels, email, file directories, etc. Your reseller control panel has tons of features you may never use. As such looking at it for the first time, it is hard to imagine you can setup accounts in just one minute. But it is just that easy. |
|
STEP ONE:
(create a package) A package simply
defines what a specific user
account can do. It sets the limits of how much space the user can use,
how many mailboxes he/she can create, etc. Go into your WHM control
panel
and click on the ADD PACKAGE LINK. A screen much like the screen shot
at
right will appear.
Name the package anything easy to remember. Assign the user a set number of megs to use (quota) which they may not go over without your permission. Assign how many ftp accounts they will be allowed to create (we suggest just one so they can't give their account access to another person). Assign how many email addresses, mailing lists, databases and subdomains they will be able to create (we suggest setting databases to 1 or 2). Tell it whether the user uses Microsoft Frontpage, and then lastly set the bandwidth limit. This is the maximum amount of traffic a user can use in any month. For instance, if you have 10,000 megs (space) and 50 gigs (bandwidth) available to your reseller account, you may want to give the user 2 gigs of that traffic (2000 megs).
Press create and that's it.
STEP
TWO: (create a new account) Ok now that you've definied what the
user can do, it is time to create his/her account. Click on CREATE
A NEW ACCOUNT. At the very bottom it will ask you to select which
package to use (use the one you just created). After doing so most of
the fields shown will
automatically fill-in. Then all you need
to do is input the user's domain name, username and password and
press the create button. The account is created. You are done.
NOW WHAT? The user now has a control panel and website account ready for use. Register the user's domain name at any registry with the nameservers we provided you at setup time and in 24-72 hours the user's account will work on the internet.
